  • This testimonial was sent to me in February 2024. His first appointment was in March 2023.

"In February 2022, I barely survived a rare severe stroke to my left cerebellum. I had suffered significant brain stem damage and the CAT scans and MRI showed that 25% of my neurons were gone (the estimate was that over 30 billion neurons had died). I spent a few months in neuro-rehabilitation and came out somewhat functional, but there were problems with concentration, stability, balance dizziness. headaches, tinnitus, weakness and fatigue.

Nearly 2/3 of people with this type of stroke go into early dementia, and about 7 months after the stroke I was experiencing signs of cognitive decline. It was ever harder to understand people and I felt more and more isolated. I no longer understood how technology (like computers & apps worked) and my formerly keen organizational skills were rapidly disappearing. People I encountered treated me in a very different manner than before. Friends and family found me different, detached and odd.

My wife is a physician, and she suggested that I seek treatment with her Somatic Experiencing (S.E.) myofascial release therapist. The S.E. therapist amazingly was able to reduce the foggy confusion in my head and turn down the piercing tinnitus in my ears. My left side became more responsive and functional, but it was still awkward and klutzy. I had debilitating headaches that could only be mitigated with opioid drugs or neuro blocking drugs. Also, almost all of my innate decision making abilities and organizational skills were gone. My S.E. therapist suggested that I make an appointment with her personal physician, Dr. Patterson and let him figure this out.

When I met Dr. Patterson, he explained that he is a Medical Doctor that sought training as an Osteopath and other alternative medicine methodologies. I had four or five sessions with Dr. Patterson, as he assessed my situation. He took an extensive history and spent a good deal of time understanding the complexity of my medical condition. Dr. Patterson explained to me that he thought that my right cerebellum had become over stressed in the early recovery, after the stroke. He believed he could relieve the stress on that cerebellum and then reprogram stimulus into my brain in a more balanced method.

After talking things over with my wife, this is what we feel Dr. Patterson did. First, he used non-invasive Osteopathic touch therapy to unwind the stress on my right cerebellum and monitor the state of the cerebellum as new stimulus reprogramed into my brain through the cerebellum. Second, he re-introduced brain plasticity with IV infusions of NAD+, this allowed the brain to be reprogrammed. By this point we think that my brain stem had been allowed enough time to heal and was up to the job of reprogramming with new stimulus. Third, Dr. Patterson conducted a ten part Rolfing therapy treatment, releasing all of the myofascial systems in my body. This created continuous, balanced stimulus through my body and into my brain. I also preformed all of the neuro-therapy exercises I could remember during this time period, including the inner ear vestibular exercises. Four, he continued the NAD+ IV infusions, knowing that they are not just neuro-protective, but also, neuro-regenerative. We believe that the NAD+ infusions stopped the cognitive decline by eliminating and reversing the process of senescence in my brain. Five, Dr. Patterson continued the Osteopathic touch therapy, not just to monitor all of the above activity, but to assist with other issues along the way like:the break-up of necrotic brain tissue; stimulation of neuro-regeneration; and possibly the increase of cerebral blood flow (think Vulcan mind meld - it’s the best example I can give).

I may still have minor deficiencies, but I am a normal person again. No one I encounter can tell I have had a stroke. I can control my headaches with Tylenol and the fatigue is greatly abated. I have re-developed fine motor skills in my left hand, my balance is much improved and my organizational skills have returned. Dr. Patterson’s treatments have had an immeasurable impact on the quality of my life."

  • "It has been four and a half years since we've met. You have been such a gift to me, on so many levels. I remember the first time you worked on me. At one point you were clearing a pattern from my lumbar area that went into my lateral hip + TFL, you were working really deeply, then all at once you stepped away from the table, put your hands behind your back + kept your focus on my hip + leg, which kept shifting - I have always believed that you were completing the work with your intent + that has helped me many, many times to maintain awareness in my work, of the power of intent in bodywork + of the sanctity of the work we do.

Another life-changing moment for me, that we shared was, in later '93 when you were working on my neck + jaw + in that hour and 15 minute session, I re-lived 5 cervically related deaths. One of them was so intense + I had such a resist to feeling all those feelings again, I was contracted physically + suffering emotionally + I heard your voice gentle above me 'Just feel it.' And (in my mind) I went 'Oh yeah!' + in that moment found my way through to releasing it. That session has done more for me than I'm sure I can even know on this level + I am + will always be so deeply grateful for your work + your presence.

Over the years, your presence, your friendship + your encouragement + guidance have meant so much to me.

I believe that, in life, while free will is always at play, it is almost as if, in a given lifetime, certain spiritual paths + journeys are almost (for lack of a better work) inevitable. And as we set out on those paths we draw to ourselves humans who are friends, guides + mental guardian angels all in one... + it is always such a joyous surprise to find yourself walking the road of life alongside such a being!

You are such a friend, guide, guardian/mentor, gift to me"

  • "Thanks! I've grown a lot thru the Rolfing, thru your input. It's a difficult thing to explain just how someone impacts another person - you have! You did much to turn on some lights that needed to be turned on. You're a great therapist, a compassionate being. Know that I appreciate your work and efforts. Much love and light to you on your journey."
